Golf and Tennis at BallenIsles

Golf is the number one pastime at BallenIsles, and how can it not be, with a history that goes back to 1964? At that time, what are today its three championship courses were known as the PGA National Golf Club, which leased the land from John D. MacArthur, the legendary businessman, philanthropist and pre-eminent Palm Beach County landowner and developer. When the lease expired in 1973, PGA of America purchased the land and renamed the club JDM Country Club, in honor of MacArthur. It was in 1988 that the MacArthur Foundation sold the golf courses and surrounding land, and BallenIsles was born. Still today, the courses are a part of golfing lore, and the names of those who played them include Watson, Nicklaus, Boros, Trevino, Snead, and Palmer, in no particular order, in numerous PGA tournaments, the World Cup and too many others to recall.

With a proud golfing history like this to preserve, and a champion caliber level to maintain for its members, BallenIsles has carefully invested tens of millions of dollars over the years. Today, BallenIsles members revel in the three impeccably maintained championship courses (no matter what their skill level), a newly refurbished 72,000 square foot clubhouse, and a shared history few courses can claim.

But golf is hardly the end of the story here at BallenIsles, just the beginning. A close second in prestige is the tennis program at BallenIsles, ranked number one in the world. Members enjoy the use of 22 courts in the new 62,000 square foot Sports Complex, a full service tennis shop, special events and tournaments, and clinics and lessons for all ages and abilities. How special is the sport of tennis at BallenIsles? You'll just have to ask Venus and Serena, who live and train here.

What to do When You're Not Playing Golf or Tennis at BallenIsles

After the games, or even instead of them, members enjoy the services of the Spa & Salon at BallenIsles, where residents of all genders, ages and desires can avail themselves of just the right spa experience for a top to bottom pampering away of the day's cares. Come enjoy a European spa treatment as offered by expertly trained technicians skilled in the art and science of skin and muscle health and wellness. Some members seek out the club's training and fitness classes, including strength and cardiovascular workouts, at the club's new $40 million Sports Complex. Here, you'll also find aerobics classes, massage rooms, sauna and steam rooms, and physical therapy services when the need dictates.

And BallenIsles does not forget two of your most passionate interests -- children and charity. Whether your own children or your grandchildren, young people will be dazzled by the array of social events, holiday celebrations, and varied sports and outdoor activities that are always available to the younger set, all presented in true BallenIsles style. And so many of our residents take an active interest in charitable works that BallenIsles supports a full slate of philanthropic causes and organizations, so those who need our help can count on it from our members, whose good fortune and hard work have given them so much that they can generously consider the needs of others.
