As the Bard of Avon, aka William Shakespeare once inquired, “What’s in a name?” And so we might ask the same today about Frenchmans Creek, one of the first, incomparably luxurious, residents-only year-round country club living communities in Palm Beach Gardens. No doubt others have wondered over the years just how Frenchmans Creek came to be so named. And believe it or not, another British writer had something to do with it, some 300 years after Shakespeare’s day. But first, more about living in homes in Frenchmans Creek. It may not be for everyone, but could one of the homes for sale in Frenchmans Creek be just what you are looking for?
Live here, and live the good life among cordial neighbors who share your interests, enjoy socializing, and whose life accomplishments and attainments mirror your own, in one of the most impeccable white gloved service residences in the highly sought after city of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The expert agents of Frankel Realty Group have an expert knowledge of the real estate in north Palm Beach County and can tell you a lot about the homes for sale in Frenchman’s Creek and about life in Palm Beach Gardens. One of the first things you are likely to notice about Frenchmans Creek is the seclusion of each residence. Just some 600 custom estate homes, villas, patio homes and townhomes have been built on the over 700 acres of Frenchman’s Creek, affording a very high level of residential privacy. Living areas in these remarkable homes start at 2,100 to 2,800 square feet in the townhomes and patio homes, at least 2,800 square feet in the villa homes, and from 7,500 to 12,000 square feet of living space in the estate homes. Currently, home prices in Frenchman’s Creek range from $600,000 to $12 million for an eight bedroom, 12 bath estate with boat dock and waterfront. Building materials, design, construction, and appointments in these homes are luxurious and beyond compare, and must be seen to be appreciated.
Another thing you might notice are the 95 residences situated on well-protected deep water canals, offering navigable waterways and direct access to the Atlantic Ocean via the Intracoastal. Bring your boat (anything up to 120 feet) and dock it at your home. You’ll also have priority access to slips at Loggerhead Club and Marina, a well-equipped full service facility with fuel docks, ship store and vessel storage.
The five star amenities seem to never end at Frenchmans Creek, and each one outdoes the other. The newly refurbished 90,000 square foot clubhouse is the hub of the community, with three food and beverage venues and a to-go food outlet where you’ll enjoy everything from comfort food to creative cutting-edge cuisine, with special requests always honored. All you need do is ask, and their five star chefs will be glad to accommodate with care and style.
The clubhouse is also where you’ll find a year-round roster of activities and events that will amaze with their variety and high quality execution, as befits our members who have enjoyed and tasted the best of everything life has to offer. A mere sampling of soirées you’ll participate in at the clubhouse include the Vegas styled Bingo Blitz, Birthday Month Cocktail Party Night, premium scotch and vodka tastings (sometimes combined with cigar samplings) and dancing under the stars at Le Club. More laid back events may include Latin dance workouts, tennis exhibitions with featured expert players, lunch and learn seminars, fishing tournaments, and instruction in the elegance and strategy of playing the game of bridge. And happily, there is always something going on for your children and grandchildren, who will be kept busy with sports, parties and games planned year round just for them, especially during holidays and school vacations. New Year’s Eve is a must-see extravaganza for everyone to ring in the New Year.
The athletic residents of Frenchmans Creek are never forgotten, with resort style first class facilities that include 17 Har-Tru tennis courts (several lit for night play) plus a full slate of clinics, round robins, personalized training, and “drop-in doubles.” There is always a game on or a tournament going for every age group and skill level, and a well-stocked pro shop for you to visit. Two designer championship golf courses (redesigned by Jim Fazio and Robert Cupp) are also part of the Frenchmans Creek lifestyle, with another pro shop and a full program of tournaments and clinics of which you may partake. Frenchmans Creek also has a caddie program with both walking caddies and fore caddies available. The sparkling new 24,000 square foot fitness center and spa are not to be missed, featuring both a resort style pool and a lap pool, full service salon and spa amenities, and a wellness center with oversight provided by the Jupiter Medical Center.
But by far the unique amenity available only at Frenchmans Creek is the splendid private beach club right on the shores of spectacular Juno Beach. Here you can relax and bask on your own stretch of Atlantic Ocean-facing private sand, complete with wide umbrellas set up just for you and seaside food and beverage service. For time away from the ocean, there is a private heated swimming pool and a secure children’s pool, all just steps away from the surf. The club makes available a locker room, a towel service and beach toys for the convenience of its members. After a day of sun, enjoy fine dining inside the tropically decorated beach clubhouse, the fourth food venue of Frenchmans Creek. The menu favors seafood of course, but other fare is also available. You could get used to spending your days here at the Frenchman’s Creek beach club, your private oasis in the middle of a busy life. It’s a cut above, and a world away, but only for residents of Frenchmans Creek.
Combine all of this with the fact that Frenchmans Creek is proud to be a private, equity participation community that puts the safety and security of its residents first and foremost. This gated residence is protected by its own professional security force staffed by former members of law enforcement and the military. A visitor ID program, round the clock paramedic services, perimeter patrols, a marine unit for protection of the deep water access areas, and high-tech surveillance monitoring all make Frenchmans Creek the safest of the South Florida gated communities. You’d do well to buy a home in Frenchmans Creek. It’s a wise investment in your future.
Oh, yes, the name Frenchmans Creek and how it came to be. What is known is that one of the first pioneer families who moved to this area was the Hoyts, who eventually purchased quite a bit of land here in the 1930s and ’40s. Mrs. Hoyt’s favorite novel of the day was called Frenchmans Creek by famed British writer Daphne du Maurier, and in homage to mom, it is said that one of her children put up a small sign near one of the area waterways that so proclaimed the name of the location. In the late ’40s, federal mapmakers happened upon the sturdy little sign, and added the name Frenchmans Creek to their project, most likely completely unaware of its origins. But the name lived on, and eventually the land became part of the MacArthur Foundation holdings. It was purchased from the foundation in 1977 by the developers of Frenchmans Creek, the team of Jack Gaines and Burt Haft, and the first residents moved into this fabulous new community in the late ’80s. The rest, as they say, is history. Good thing Mrs. Hoyt’s favorite work by du Maurier wasn’t her more infamous one, The Birds, or this little tale would perhaps have had quite a different ending!
